Rowing Manager & Head Coach
Entering his third year at West End for the 2021/2022 season, Nick Dawe is a former two-time Senior World Rowing Championship rower for the United States in the Lightweight 8+ and Lightweight 4-. As an athlete, Nick has also earned gold medals at the Head of the Charles, Royal Canadian Henley, USRowing National Championships, and USRowing Youth National Championships and competed in the Henley Royal Regatta. As a coach, Nick has worked with both men and women at every level of the sport with skills ranging from from novice to high performance. Nick’s coaching experience includes two years at the high school level, six years at the NCAA Division 1 level including five years as a lead recruiter, eight years as head coach at the club level, and three years as a USRowing High Performance coach.
Nick has helped develop over twenty athletes to Junior, Under-23, Senior, Pan-American, and Olympic teams. Nick coached on the USRowing Under-23 team staff in 2017 & 2019 as the Men’s Lightweight 1x coach producing the USA’s only gold medal at the 2019 Under-23 World Rowing Championships. After his 4- crew qualified in Rio de Janiero, Brazil in 2018, Nick was named as lead sweep coach for the 2019 USOC Pan American Games team.
Nick’s education includes two Ivy League university degrees with a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Physiology from Columbia University, Teachers College in New York City.

Club Squad Coach
As a world record holder, two-time Olympian and both under-23 and senior world championship medallist, Robbie joins the club squad coaching staff for the 2021/2022 season
Robbie has successfully navigated New Zealand’s high performance system starting with back to back appearances at the 2009 & 2010 Under-23 World Rowing Championships including a gold medal in 2009. Robbie’s senior national team debut came in 2010 on New Zealand’s home course Lake Karapiro. From there he competed at the World Championships every year until 2019 and earned a bronze medal in 2015. Robbie has also competed in eighteen World Rowing Cups earning nine medals (eight gold, one silver). In 2017 at the World Rowing Cup II Robbie achieved the world best time for the Men’s 1x in 6:30.74. Robbie also competed at rowing’s highest level at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.
Club Intermediate & Novice Coach
Hasan Pathan enters his first year as Intermediate and Novice Coach at West End Rowing Club for the 2021/2022 season. In addition to his position at West End, Hasan is also the lead U15 boys coach at Mount Albert Grammar School and the lead coach for the 2021 U16/U17 Blues Auckland Development Rowing Camp. Hasan has coached the U15 & U16s at Mount Albert Grammar the previous two years as well.
Hasan is currently studying at Auckland University pursuing a B.S. and double majoring in Physics and Exercise Science.
